Candelas Residents Treated to a Guided Tour of the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge
On November 12, 2015, led by David Lucas, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Manager, twenty Candelas residents, embarked on a nature tour of the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge. The group was treated to a breathtaking array of a rarely seen Colorado landscape, majestic views, wildlife and history. As if to show off it’s treasures, the tour group experienced the refuge’s beautiful rolling terrain, learned about its rare xeric tallgrass prairie, its historic Lindsay Ranch homestead and was thrilled by a close encounter with a thriving herd of elk.
